Possible Scam Alert!

There has been a mass mailing from a home insurance company and is not related to WE Energies or the work they are planning in 2018.  The ‘gas lines’ referred to in this letter are customer piping/fuel runs inside a home, downstream from the customer valve on the meter.  WE Energies owns the lines up to this valve on the meter set and customers will not be charged for the replacement work they are doing on mains and laterals this year.


WE Energies may need to do some work on fuel runs as part of meter relocations for their work.  Typically this will involve moving a meter from inside a home to outside a home which is the current company and industry standard.  Customers will not be charged for rerouting of fuel runs as required by this work.


If WE Energies finds a hazard inside a home at the time of their safety inspection on customer owned piping or at an appliance connection, it will then be tagged and will be the responsibility of the customer to call a qualified plumber/natural gas expert to repair.


If a customer ever suspects a natural gas leak, their first call should be to WE Energies at 1-800-261-5325
