Health Services
Public Health Nursing
Residents of St. Francis are visited upon referral from themselves, hospitals, physicians, family, neighbors, school officials, clergy or local authorities.  Visits are conducted by a registered nurse and there is no fee.  Home visits are made to assist residents and guide them to promote wellness.

Home Safety
The health department provides free home safety assessments for families with children and the elderly.

School Health Services
The Public Health Nurse provides nursing services to public and private schools in the community.  Nursing services include; providing consultation on chronic and routine health conditions of students and staff, screenings, referrals based on findings; immunization audit of all students attending school along with consultation to parents/caregivers regarding compliance to the State of Wisconsin Immunization Requirements, school based immunization clinics and basic first aid.  The Public Health Nurse will also provide instruction regarding nutrition, exercise, growth and development.

Sharps Disposal
Sharps disposal is available at the health department for all St. Francis residents that use blood testing equipment or syringes in their home.

A bio-hazard container (red hard plastic container) can be purchased from the Health Department.  When the container is full the container can be returned to the health department for disposal.

NEVER place needles or syringes in the garbage.  Contact the health department for further information.

Lead Screening
Testing for lead in the blood is offered for children age 1-5 years.  Information about lead poisoning and identifying lead hazards in the home is available from the Health Department.  A home lead hazard investigation is done when a child has an elevated blood lead level as mandated by the State.  A home lead hazard investigation is also available to residents that have a concern regarding lead hazards.

Pregnancy Screening
Pregnancy screening is available to female residents that have missed at least one menstrual cycle.  confidential referrals will be given as necessary.

Prenatal Care
Prenatal Care Coordination is available to resident females that are pregnant.  A Public Health Nurse will provide health information and referrals as needed.

Wisconsin Well Woman Program
This program offers mammogram and cervical screenings for those residents that are age and income eligible.  The health department will register women and refer to the appropriate sources.
