Health Services & Programs

Public Health Nursing
Residents of St. Francis are visited upon referral from themselves, hospitals, physicians, family, neighbors, school officials, clergy or local authorities.  Visits are conducted by a registered nurse and there is no fee.  Home visits are made to assist residents and guide them to promote wellness.

Home Safety
The health department provides free home safety assessments for families with children and the elderly.
Lead Screening
Testing for lead in the blood is offered for children age 1-5 years.  Information about lead poisoning and identifying lead hazards in the home is available from the Health Department.  A home lead hazard investigation is done when a child has an elevated blood lead level as mandated by the State.  A home lead hazard investigation is also available to residents that have a concern regarding lead hazards.
Wisconsin Well Woman Program
This program offers mammogram and cervical screenings for those residents that are age and income eligible.  The health department will register women and refer to the appropriate sources.
Weights & Measures Program
A City Sealer is a person that enforces all weights and measures in the City.  The items that are tested for accuracy are:  scales, scanners, timing devices, gas pumps and products sold by weight.   These items are checked for accuracy at least yearly.  At this time, a City Seal is affixed to the approved devices.
